HC Deb 26 October 1984 vol 65 c735W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is now in a position to make a statement on what consultations he has had with London boroughs concerning the future of statutory duties or activities of the Greater London council relating to the River Thames, other than those concerned with bridges, tunnels, ferries and piers.

Mr. Jopling

I have had no consultations with the London boroughs on the GLC's land drainage and flood defence functions. As is set out in the White Paper "Streamlining the Cities" (Cmnd. 9063) it is proposed to transfer those functions to the Thames water authority. There are no proposals to alter the land drainage and flood defence powers currently exercisable by the London boroughs.
