HC Deb 24 October 1984 vol 65 c619W
Mr. Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many accidents on single track roads involved overseas' motorists and what proportion this was of the total in each of the last three years for which information is available.

Mr. Ancram

The number of reported injury road accidents on single track roads involving vehicles with foreign or diplomatic number plates was as follows:

Number of Accidents
Year Fatal Serious Slight Total Percentage of all injury accidents on single track roads
1981 8 5 13 2.6
1982 5 8 13 2.8
1983 4 6 10 2.6

The figures do not include information on accidents involving vehicle damage only, which is not held centrally, nor do they take account of accidents involving United Kingdom registered vehicles driven by overseas motorists.
