HC Deb 24 October 1984 vol 65 c619W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to meet the representatives of the various fish processing organisations in the north east of Scotland, and particularly from the Banff and Buchan constituency, to discuss the effects on the industry of shortage of fish supplies for processing and consequent high prices, and in particular the effects on employment in the industry; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John MacKay

My right hon. Friend has no immediate plans to meet representatives of these organisations. My right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State has, however, met the Federation of North East Scotland Fish Merchants' Associations, most recently on 18 September 1984, when the scarcity of white fish supplies was among the topics discussed.
