HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 c564W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will enumerate the instances of contracts for ancillary services within the National Health Service that have been terminated and resort made to the use of its own workers, in each of the district health authorities in England, since privatisation of ancillary services was started.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Health authorities have always made use of contractors for some parts of ancillary services. They do not have to inform the Department if they change from a contractor to an in-house service, and we do not collect centrally information of the kind requested.
