asked the Secretary of State for Transport what transport projects are to receive the funds allocated to transport from the refunds paid to the United Kingdom in respect of the 1983 European Community budget.

I am pleased to report that the Commission of the European Communities has announced that 33 transport projects in the United Kingdom will receive a total of £273 million from the refund agreed in respect of the United Kingdom's 1983 EC budget contribution. The details of the projects and amounts involved are as follows:

Payments amounting to £246 million will shortly be made by the Commission. The remaining 10 per cent. will be paid in due course, following normal Commission auditing procedures.
