HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 c409W
13. Mr. Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many jobs have been created in the tourist industry in Wales over the past five years.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

There are no comprehensive statistics of the numbers employed in the tourist industry. A Wales Tourist Board study published in September 1977 concluded that about 83,000 were employed in the industry either directly or indirectly; and the board estimates that the numbers employed have grown since then to a figure of at least 90,000.
