HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 cc457-8W
Rev. William McCrea

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many Northern Ireland students will be worse off under the new travel grant arrangements; and how many will be better off.

Mr. Scott

I refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Foyle (Mr. Hume) on 31 July 1984.

Rev. William McCrea

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many representations he has received (a) in favour of and (b) opposing the new travel grant arrangements for students in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Scott

Some 50 representations have been received, from education and library boards, student unions and individuals. All were opposed to the new arrangements.
