asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the number and percentage of three and four-year-olds receiving nursery education in Magherafelt, Cookstown, Omagh and Strabane district council areas.

At January, 1984, the position was as follows:

District Council Nos. of 3 and 4-year-olds in Nursery Education As percentage of estimated 3 and 4-year-old population
Magherafelt 63 5
Cookstown 65 5
Omagh 75 4
Strabane 50 3

In addition it should also be noted that on average some 70 per cent. of four year-olds in these council areas were in primary education.
