HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 c507W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will place a list in the Library of those people resident in Australia, citizens of Australia and ex-members of the United Kingdom armed forces or their dependants whose claims for compensation in respect of injury caused by nuclear tests performed by the British Government or its agencies are being handled by his Department under the provisions of the war pensions scheme.

Mr. Whitney

Details of claims under the war pensions scheme are confidential between the claimants and the department. About 100 claims have been received from ex-members of the United Kingdom armed forces or their dependants in respect of injury caused by the United Kingdom atmospheric nuclear weapon tests between 1952–1967. A small number of these claimants is resident in Australia.
