HC Deb 22 October 1984 vol 65 cc447-8W
Rev. William McCrea

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will make further representations to the Government of Iran about the use of physical and mental torture and murder in that country.

Mr. Luce

We continue to be concerned at reports of violations of human rights in Iran, and we shall take every suitable opportunity to urge the Iranian authorities to meet their obligations under the United Nations convention on human rights. On 2 October representatives of the European Community delivered a demarche on behalf of the Ten to the Iranian Government about the human rights situation in Iran.
