Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many surveys have been undertaken by the Soil Survey of England and Wales teams in each year since 1979.

In addition, the Soil Survey has conducted a number of exercises which have not resulted in the publication of maps, including the national soil inventory, the national lowland peat inventory, a saline soil survey in north Kent and many farm and other detailed surveys.
