HL Deb 29 November 1984 vol 457 cc1099-100WA
Lord Broxbourne

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress the Law Reform Committee have made in their consideration of the law relating to the accrual of the cause of action, and limitation, in negligence cases involving latent defects.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)

I have today presented to Parliament the Report of the Law Reform Committee, published as Cmnd. 9390. I am most grateful to my noble and learned friend Lord Scarman, and to all other members of the committee, for the work they have done in the preparation of this valuable report. The conclusions and recommendations, if accepted, would involve a substantial change in the statutory law of limitation. The Government will be giving early consideration to the possibility of such legislation in the light of any comments which they may receive.
