§ Sir Brandon Rhys Williamsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will tabulate figures showing the numbers of people receiving housing benefits, showing the rate rebate recipients separately from those receiving rent and rate rebates, and distinguishing between certificated and standard benefit payments.
§ Mr. WhitneyHousing benefit statistics do not routinely distinguish rate rebate-only cases from those receiving a rate rebate and a rent rebate or allowance. It is, however, estimated that as at autumn 1983, the latest date for which figures are available, the information requested is broadly as follows:
Recipients Standard housing benefit Certificated housing benefit Rent rebate and rate rebate 1,720 1,870 Rent allowance and rate rebate 330 540 Rate rebate only 1,600 600
