asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many pits were (a) working normally, (b) producing some coal, (c) had men reporting for work and (d) had no men reporting for work (i) at the end of March, (ii) at 31 October and (iii) at the latest available date.

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the monthly average output of coal during the present dispute; and what was the average output for 1983.

The average monthly coal production from all United Kingdom sources during 1983 was 9.9 million tonnes. The monthly average in the months April to September 1984 was 3 million tonnes.
