HC Deb 29 November 1984 vol 68 c574W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the funding of the Mersey regional health authority is sufficient to meet the needs of the centre for radiotherapy at Clatterbridge hospital; what representations he has received about this centre; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

It is for regional health authorities to assess priorities within their regions and to allocate resources accordingly. Mersey region envisages a major expansion of services at Clatterbridge with additional equipment and capital investment. A thorough review of all aspects of the centre is under way including staffing levels, prospective accommodation needs and the management of the treatment of patients.

We have received a number of letters from hon. Members.
