HC Deb 28 November 1984 vol 68 c497W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many job splits have been achieved under the job-splitting scheme in the Stockport and Tameside districts, respectively; and how these figures compare with his Department's original expectations.

Mr. Alan Clark

Eight full-time jobs have been split since the scheme began, five in Stokport and three in Tameside, providing 16 part-time jobs. No specific targets for take-up have been set for the scheme in particular areas. However take-up on the scheme nationally has been disappointing. As my right hon. Friend announced on 12 November at column444, changes are to be made to improve its attractiveness and thus the help it can give to reducing unemployment.
