HC Deb 28 November 1984 vol 68 cc509-10W
53. Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to reduce atmospheric pollution.

Mr. Waldegrave

Atmospheric pollution in the United Kingdom has been dramatically reduced over the past 30 years. The Government intend to achieve further reductions in emissions of specific pollutants from both fixed sources and vehicles in the years ahead. To this end my Department supports a growing programme of research and monitoring, is reviewing existing control legislation, and plays a full part in international collaborative work.
