asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will introduce measures to compel the use of anti-spray devices on heavy goods vehicles for use in wet weather.

Statutory Instrument 1984 No.: 1543 requiring lorries to be fitted with spray-reducing equipment was laid before Parliament on 10 October this year. The effect is that new lorries and existing heavy trailers must be fitted with the necessary equipment from various dates between 1 May 1985 and 1 October 1987.
