HC Deb 26 November 1984 vol 68 c357W
Mr. Hume

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on Government training centres in Northern Ireland detailing the facilities and courses in each centre, the number of trainees and staff, capital investment, plans for new courses and what courses have been dropped in given centres.

Dr. Boyson

The hon. Gentleman will be aware that the Department of Economic Development has been conducting a review of the Government training centres and the attachment training scheme, and that a discussion document was issued by the Department. Comments on the document were invited by 30 November, following which the Department will begin the process of re-shaping its direct training provisions to make them both more relevant to the changing needs of industry and more cost-effective. I will write as soon as possible with the detailed information requested.
