HC Deb 26 November 1984 vol 68 cc358-9W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many identification parades were conducted in London Transport underground stations during the first nine months of 1984.

Mrs. Chalker

No formal identification parades are conducted in London underground stations. However, underground stations are sometimes used for less formal identification procedures in accordance with Home Office circular 109/1978. The British Transport police used underground stations for this purpose on 12 occasions in the period in question. Similar procedures are also carried out by the Metropolitan police but no central record of these is maintained.
