HC Deb 26 November 1984 vol 68 cc403-4W
Dr. Michael Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider amending the egg marketing regulations to remove from wholesalers the option of downgrading but still marketing unsatisfactory eggs.

Mr. MacGregor

No. Downgraded consignments of eggs may only re-enter the shell egg market if they have been re-graded and re-classified, under supervision, into grade A. In fact, downgraded eggs are usually sent for manufacture into egg products for human or industrial use.
