HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c282W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many representations he has received concerning the future of St. George's hall in Liverpool; if he has plans to discuss the matter with interested parties; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

I refer the hon. Member to my reply of 29 October to the hon. Member for Liverpool, Riverside (Mr. Parry) at c.868. Since then I have received a representation from Professor Basil Smallman of Liverpool university.

I have no plans at present to hold discussions on the future of St. George's Hall. I am still waiting to hear from Liverpool city council who are considering a number of possible uses. I have made it clear to them that I shall be happy to discuss their proposals as soon as they are ready.
