§ Mr. Cohenasked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the programmed start date for the main works on the Sidcup bypass trunk road scheme when the project was being handled by the Greater London council as agents for his Department; and what is the current programmed start date now that control of the project has passed back to his Department.
§ Mrs. ChalkerWhen the GLC notified the Department in January 1983 that it was unwilling to continue as agents for this scheme, it was revealed that it was already well behind the planned programme start date of mid-1983. Given this and the delays involved in the handover and tendering processes, the current expected start date is next March.
