HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c268W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give consideration to introducing incentives for firms to provide employees with opportunities for share ownership and profit sharing; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moore

The Government welcome employee shareholding and profit sharing schemes, which give employees a direct financial interest in the fortunes of their employers. It is for that reason that tax concessions were introduced in the 1980, 1982 and 1983 Budgets to encourage profit sharing schemes and in the 1980, 1982 and 1984 Budgets to encourage share option schemes.
