HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c231W
Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has made of the financial and manpower implications that would result from the transfer of responsibility for 80 miles of road from the Greater London Council to his Department in the event of the implementation of Cmnd. 9063.

Mrs. Chalker

With the transferred 65 miles of GLC metropolitan roads, my Department will take over the cost of completing any schemes in hand on them at that time, together with £3 million annual maintenance costs currently falling on ratepayers. The extra work arising from this transfer will be handled within the Department's existing staff complement.
