HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c237W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements he has to monitor conditions and charges made to his Department for bed and breakfast and guest house accommodation used by his Department for families who are in receipt of benefit; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Newton

Data on supplementary benefit payments to all people in board and lodging accommodation collected routinely as part of the "Annual Statistical Enquiry" which covers all supplementary benefit payments. As I have indicated in answer to the hon. Member for Thanet, North (Mr. Gale) today, my right hon. Friend will shortly be publishing proposals for longer-term arrangements and for consultation with the Social Security Advisory Committee.
