divisions. In the midlands (west) division of the Wages Inspectorate, 543 establishments in 1983 were found to have underpaid 1,097 workers. Arrears totalling £89,208 were paid. No employers in Coventry or the west midlands were prosecuted last year for offences under the Wages Councils Act 1979.
