HC Deb 20 November 1984 vol 68 c151W
Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if any steps have been taken by the Yorkshire water authority against the Coalite company in respect of its pollution of the river Rother; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

The Coalite company has a consent to discharge effluent under the Rivers (Prevention of Pollution) Acts 1951–1961. The conditions attached to that consent are currently the subject of an appeal by the company to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State. I can make no statement while the appeal is under consideration.
