HC Deb 19 November 1984 vol 68 c76W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement outlining the progress made by other EEC countries towards reducing the level of milk production.

Mr. MacGregor

The most recent published data available on deliveries to dairies in all member states indicate that most member states have cut back milk production. Producers or dairies will be liable to pay supplementary levy if deliveries have been made in excess of their quotas when the calculation of levy liability falls due. The information on trends in deliveries is summarised as follows:

Cutback on 1983–84 deliveries required to stay within 1984–85 wholesale quotas per cent. Cutback achieved April to August 1984 against same period in 1983 per cent.
France -2.5 +0.85
Netherlands -6.8 -4.36
Ireland +1.7 +4.11
Denmark -6.6 -5.32
Greece +10.0 †+0.66

Belgium -4.0 †-1.96
