HC Deb 19 November 1984 vol 68 cc75-6W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the total amount paid in 1983–84 and his estimate for the current financial year in respect of disbursements to the farming industry out of moneys provided by Parliament together with the principal items of expenditure and the balance of expenditure by his Department under other headings, including administration.

Mr. Jopling

Total voted expenditure, net of receipts, by my Department and the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce in 1983–84 was £795 million. The Supply Estimates for 1984–85 provide for net expenditure of £884 million, but Winter Supplementary Estimates are to be presented to Parliament shortly seeking an increase of £31 million in the present provision. Details of expenditure in 1983–84 are set out in the Appropriation Accounts (Volume 3: Class III: HC 614–111 of 1983–84 published on 29 October 1984); details of the current year provision are in the Supply Estimates 1984–85 (Class III: HC 292–111, published on 13 March 1984 and HC 470 and 471 published on 14 June 1984).
