asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list by authority the number of council houses empty for longer than three months, six months and 12 months at the most recent date available.

Information about all vacant dwellings owned by local authorities and about those vacant for more than a year, but not for other lengths of time, is collected in English authorities' annual housing investment programme returns: copies are available in the Library.
The estimates based on the latest returns relating to 1 April 1984, are:
