§ Mrs. ChalkerConstruction of this much-needed road scheme started last April. Good progress is being made and we are generally on target for completion in the spring of 1987. Inevitably, with a contract of this magnitude in an urban area, there have been a few representations from individuals affected by the roadworks, but not general body fo complaint. My Department is maintaining close links with local people to ensure that any problems are dealt with swiftly. Steps have also been taken to minimise disturbance from construction noise and to keep traffic flowing as smoothly and as safely as possible.
