§ Mr. Dixonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take in the event of the abolition of Tyne and Wear county council to provide financial assistance to the industry and employment programme of the metropolitan boroughs in the Tyne and Wear area.
§ Mr. WaldegraveMetropolitan district councils taking over services currently the responsibility of the Tyne and Wear metropolitan county council will have allocated to them grant related expenditure appropriate to the needs to be met by those services. It will be for the districts to decide on any arrangements for continuing support for the council county industry and employment programme.
