§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe Government intend that all aspects of waste regulation and disposal, including the completion of plans required under section 2 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974, should become the responsibility of the district councils in the event of the abolition of West Yorkshire county council.
The need for long-term planning of waste disposal over a sufficiently wide area was, however, one of the key criteria in the consultation document "Streamlining the Cities: Waste Disposal"—10 November 1983—and it is expected that the plans produced will reflect this.
