HC Deb 15 November 1984 vol 67 c345W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Defence at what intervals (a) captain's, (b) navigational and (c) signals logs are removed from nuclear submarines; and what is the procedure for dealing with each of them after they are removed.

Mr. Heseltine

Submarine commanding officers submit a report to their operational commanders at the end of each patrol. These reports are supported by detailed records including narrative accounts of operations and exercises. Instructions for handling completed submarine control room logs are in Queen's Regulations for the Royal Navy which are available in the Library. Signal logs are not retained permanently.
