HC Deb 15 November 1984 vol 67 cc345-6W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Defence why armed United States soldiers were allowed directly to confront Greenham common women cutting their way through the inner security fence at the cruise missile base on Sunday 5 November.

Mr. Stanley

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the incident on 4 November which was described in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Newbury (Mr. McNair-Wilson) on 9 November" at column41. United States personnel were on duty inside the cruise missile facility within the base but all the women concerned were apprehended outside the facility by British personnel.
