§ Mr. Onslowasked the Prime Minister what are the current terms of reference of the Cabinet Office efficiency unit.
§ The Prime MinisterUnder the direction of Sir Robin Ibbs the efficiency unit advises me on the strategy for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Government services. I have particularly asked it to help Ministers set targets for improvements in value for money and to help them conduct efficiency scrutinies and other work to bring these improvements about. The unit works closely with the Cabinet Office and Her Majesty's Treasury.
