HC Deb 14 November 1984 vol 67 c247W
15. Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what new initiatives on arms control are being proposed by his Department.

Mr. Luce

The British Government remain strongly committed to the pursuit of arms control agreements. In close consultation with our allies, we have tabled ourselves, or been fully associated with, positive proposals in all the disarmament fora. There has been a disappointing lack of progress, but we shall continue to work vigorously with our allies to persuade the Soviet Union of our mutual interest in balanced reductions in levels of forces and arms expenditure.
