Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what grants have been made and, if applicable, under which schemes, to national voluntary youth organisations over each of the last 10 years; and what provisions have been made for grants to these and similar organisations for 1985.

Mr. Brooke

Grants made by this Department since the financial year 1975–76 towards the headquarters expenditure of national voluntary youth organisations are as follows. Until April 1983 these grants were made under regulation 29 of the Further Education Regulations 1975, and since April 1983 under regulation 20(1) (6) of the Education (Grant) Regulations 1983. Grants for 1985–86 will be announced next year.
