HC Deb 13 November 1984 vol 67 c209W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the percentage increase in real input volume expenditure in National Health Service spending since 1979–80.

Mr. John MacKay

Detailed records of programme expenditure in volume terms are no long maintained. Gross expenditure on the National Health Service in Scotland has risen from £1,053 million in 1979–80 to an estimated 1,905 million in 1984–85. This has been sufficient to enable services to expand by about 7 per cent. overall.
