Mr. Fatchett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many people under the age of (a) 18 years and (b) aged 19 to 21 years in the Leeds travel-to-work area were unemployed on the latest available figures;

(2) how many people in the Leeds travel-to-work area under the age of 18 years have been unemployed between (a) six months and 12 months and (b) for more than 12 months on the latest available figures;

(3) how many people unemployed in the Leeds travelto-work area have been unemployed for (a) between six months and 12 months, (b) between 12 months and 24 months and (c) more than 24 months on the latest available figures.

Information for the new travel-to-work areas on the age of claimants unemployed and their duration of unemployment will become available next year. Data for the old Leeds travel-to-work area in respect of unemployed claimants aged 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 to 24 years are available in the House of Commons Library.
