HC Deb 13 November 1984 vol 67 c189W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many applications have been approved since the start of the job-splitting scheme; how many are in respect of males and females; what public funds have been spent on advertising the scheme and otherwise promoting it; and how many employer inquiries have been received.

Mr. Alan Clark

Nine hundred and sixty-nine applications involving 428 men and 1,510 women in part-time job opportunities had been approved under the scheme at the end of September, 1984. The total cost of publicising the scheme including leaflets, posters and press advertising has been £423,208. No specific records are kept of day-to-day inquiries, but advertising campaigns in January to March 1983 and March 1984 generated over 11,000 requests for further information about the scheme, mainly from employers.
