Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many (i) deaf and (ii) partially heating children have been educated in (a) ordinary schools and units and (b) special schools in each education authority area in each of the last five years; and which authorities make no use of special schools for such pupils.

The number of deaf children and those with partial hearing in special schools and ordinary schools in each local education authority in January 1983 is shown in the following table. Corresponding figures for the four previous years could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
