asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people were employed in the National Health Service in the Province at the latest date; what were the figures for June 1979; and if he will make a statement.

Health and personal social services are fully integrated in Northern Ireland and the total number of staff employed at the relevant dates were:—30 June 1979—60,606 (44,545 whole-time equivalent) 30 September 1984 — 67,001 (49,207 whole-time equivalent)
