HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c60W
Mrs. Peacock

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will detail the current procedures for reviewing reports of independent schools' inspectors; and if he has any plans to alter them.

Sir Keith Joseph

Her Majesty's Inspectorate reports the findings of its formal inspections to me. Since January 1983 I have published all these reports, as written by Her Majesty's Inspectorate. The reports are issued to the local education authorities, schools and colleges concerned a fortnight before being made more widely available. Those responsible are asked to inform the Department within three months of the actions they consider necessary in the light of Her Majesty's Inspectorate's report, what they plan to do, and what implications the report may have for other schools or colleges in the area. I intend to continue these arrangements, unchanged.
