HC Deb 09 November 1984 vol 67 c13W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied with progress being made by the committee set up to co-ordinate all aspects of microelectronics in education; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Allan Stewart

At my right hon. Friend's invitation, the Scottish Council for Educational Technology established in November 1983 a widely representative microelectronics in education committee—MEC—with a broad remit to co-ordinate all aspects of microelectronics in education and using the previously existing Scottish microelectronics development programme as its executive arm. I am satisfied that MEC has made good progress in its work and is playing a major part in achieving an integrated Scottish approach in this very important field.
