§ Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied with progress being made by the committee set up to co-ordinate all aspects of microelectronics in education; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Allan StewartAt my right hon. Friend's invitation, the Scottish Council for Educational Technology established in November 1983 a widely representative microelectronics in education committee—MEC—with a broad remit to co-ordinate all aspects of microelectronics in education and using the previously existing Scottish microelectronics development programme as its executive arm. I am satisfied that MEC has made good progress in its work and is playing a major part in achieving an integrated Scottish approach in this very important field.
