§ Mr. Kenneth BakerMonthly index numbers for manufacturing industry are published for prices of materials and fuels purchased and wages and salaries per unit of output. These relate to the two major elements of manufacturers' costs. The creation of a soundly based comprehensive index would be difficult and would involve expense for Government and industry.
