HC Deb 24 May 1984 vol 60 c543W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if the figure of £8½ million allocated to be spent on derelict land clearance in Wales during the current financial year includes the £2 million which was earmarked for the Nissan development.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

No specific provision was made for development work on the sites in Wales considered by Nissan, but the possibility of having to undertake such work was one reason why £2 million was held in the Welsh Development Agency's land and buildings budget. This sum has now been re-allocated to the agency's land reclamation budget, bringing it up to £8½ million. Total Government expenditure on land reclamation in Wales is likely to be significantly higher than this when account is taken of schemes in receipt of urban development grant.
