HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c332W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West on 25 April, Official Report, column 529, if he will list the savings identified by each of the London boroughs of Croydon, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Wandsworth; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Wandsworth identified savings of up to £369 million in 1983–84 that could have arisen from abolition of the GLC. Croydon identified savings equivalent to at least 5.8p in the pound for its ratepayers.
