Mr. Nicholas Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total number of notices served by the Health and Safety Inspectorate in each of the past five years; and what was the total number of employees in manufacturing and service industries covered by the inspectorate in each of those years.

Local authorities are not included.

2. Of the various Inspectorates of the HSE, HM Factory Inspectorate is that most closely associated with Manufacturing and Service Industries.

3. Some employees come within the responsibilities of local authorities.
